Marilyn and I have a pretty long history, I was born on the farm, my father was her Arabian stallion Holly Hill Rocket.
We completed 1000 miles in limited distance competitive trail rides. Even got that nice ECTRA cooler to prove it.
Of course, she started the competitive trail riding career long before I came on the scene. Way back in 1974.
She has completed over 2600 miles in competition, glad it wasn’t all on my back. We did have some pretty good times at the Maine 80 for several years.
Marilyn got her first pony when she was six, won’t talk about what year that was. Then her parents decided to raise ponies and had as many as 30 at one time.
She got hooked on Arabians a long time ago and they are still her favorite. Her second love is Welsh ponies, over the years there were several in her life,
many years of showing ponies as her kids were growing up. Nothing like a good section A Welsh pony to bring up the kids on.
Marilyn has been involved in Albany County 4-H horse program for many years. She was a leader of the Hoofbeats & Clatter 4-H club
with her mother after she got too old to be a member. She was also one of the first junior members of the Golden Horseshoe Riding Club.
The horse collection now consists of: Me, Cori a chestnut Arabian, I'm 26 now; Phantasy, also a chestnut arab but only 17;
Stonecroft Katydid a sorrel Welsh, section D cob – age 11; Finally’s Wiseguy (Beau) a buckskin Morab – age 8;
Then there is Dragheda (Joey) a Percheron cross – age 9; and Czarina a greyTrakhener – age 19;
who actually belong to Brenda – but who’s counting?
