The annual horse show is held the third Sunday in July at the Altamont fairgrounds. The show begins PROMPTLY at 9 am(carved in stone) and is usually done before 4pm. Spectators are welcome at no charge! It is an old fashioned family oriented type show, fad and fashion play no part in the placings. Judges award ribbons on merit not outfit. There are classes for every level of horse and rider. There is a leadline class for those under age eight. We offer a Walk-trot division for riders ten and younger, a 'Junior' division, 'Senior' section and 'Open' classes. For the begining rider on a broke horse there is the 'starter rider' classes. For the green horse there is the 'starter horse' division. Any seat style can be used; stock, hunt, saddle, dressage or specialty and every breed of equine is welcome.
The grounds open at 7am and entries will be taken 7:30 on. Post entries are allowed if made at least one class in advance. All entries must be paid at time of submission or a signed blank check
left with the entry booth. Entry numbers are assigned to the horse, who will wear the same number regardless of rider or division.
Stalls are available for a $20 deposit(separate from entry funds) which is refunded when the exhibitor can show the superintendent of stalls that it is clean, all waste having been removed to the manure truck.
Persons working from their trailers must be neat and not leave a mess of hay and manure. There is a grounds fee of $10 per horse.

Trail is the most popular class at the show and is offered on an outside course from 8am to 2pm. All entries are responsible for presenting themselves at the trail class gate within that time frame or forefitting that entry.
The course has natural and man made obstacles and is within the 'pulling ring' fenced enclosure. All entries are supplied with a course map at time of sign up. Each course element's point value is marked and contestants may choose to skip
any they do not feel ready for. Full points are given only for correct, complete manuvers; attempts will be scored at a portion of that elements worth. Certain obstacles may have varied point options depending on the method of navigation chosen.
The rider must make these choices known, by marking them on the course map, prior to starting the class.
The course map is handed to the ring steward before starting, the judge will do your scoring on that map and the maps will be available to contestants about 3pm, after points have been tallyed.
